Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) suffered from what appeared to be a medical emergency while speaking to the press from a Capitol Hill podium on Wednesday and had to be ushered away by his GOP Senate colleagues.
81-year-old Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, an enduring symbol of the permanent Washington political establishment, appeared to lose his ability to speak or move as he attempted to speak to the media from behind a podium during a press conference at the Capitol.
After freezing at the podium, McConnell was assisted by his GOP Senate colleagues, who were able to gain his attention and ushered him away from the press. McConnell appeared to have trouble walking as he left the podium, and was physically aided in his movement by other Senators.
After being whisked away, McConnell eventually returned to the press conference, and told reporters that he was "fine," claiming that he had merely felt "light-headed."
In the immediate aftermath of McConnell's incident, a renewed discussion has been sparked by Americans online, who are concerned with the physical and cognitive health of the nation's long-term political figures, given the incredibly volatile situation that America finds itself in.
Much like 80-year-old Joe Biden, who's been in DC since 1973, 81-year-old Mitch McConnell has spent decades in the US Senate, after first winning election back in 1984.
In recent years, McConnell has had numerous public health issues and was hospitalized earlier this year after he suffered from a fall, resulting in a concussion.

Mitch McConnell's freeze-up at the press podium comes on the same day that the US House of Representatives is holding hearings featuring "whistleblower" allegations the US government is in contact with, and even in possession of, space aliens and is concealing information on UFOs from the public.
Those hearings are being slammed by many as a deliberate distraction from another news story that has seized headlines today, as a federal judge has rejected the sweetheart plea deal struck by Hunter Biden and the DOJ on his tax evasion and felony gun charges.
